I would love to see some sort of proper support for PM go into LFS, but

I hate to say it, but I don't recall your system. Do you have a link of 
some sort?

I've had some little bit of experience building RPM & co. and it gets to 
be a bit of a beast. I think as of now, I'm leaning towards the 
Slackware-style suggestion. I need to go check out the link that Greg 
posted.
