The text is correct for the search lines in the context of the book.  It 
may be technically incorrect for the search command with an arbitrary 
set of arguments in arbitrary situations.  I agree that the search 
command may be useful from the command line or as most distros use it 
where they do not have a known disk configuration.  LFS users do know 
their disk configuration.

Any further discussion here is OK, but it goes *way* beyond the purpose 
of the book.
