I've tried this combination
trunk jhalfs (since jhalfs 2.3 has some bugs)
SVN LFS book
lfs live cd
It stopped at 131-network with the "error creating signalfd".
tar -xf udev-173.tar.bz2
cd udev-173
grep signalfd * -R | grep NEWS
shows that at least kernel 2.6.25 is needed.
live cd has version 2.6.22.
I report this to help somebody who runs into the same problem.
One should mention it in the book.
Maybe the live cd can be updated.
