I've got a sense of deja vu here, DJ!  Did we not discuss this recently?
I can't seem to find anything in the archives or Trac history though.

I'd much rather just drop the patch completely, to be honest.  It is
simply cosmetic, you can get that information from /proc/cpuinfo anyway,
and the patch is never going to be accepted upstream in its current
form.
