I have seen the following error from the "Stage 2" binutils build
Running /usr/src/binutils/binutils-2.27/ld/testsuite/ld-x86-64/x86-64.exp ... FAIL: PLT PC-relative offset overflow check with the summay as follows === ld Summary === # of expected passes 1741 # of unexpected failures 1 # of expected failures 57 # of untested testcases 1 # of unsupported tests 12 /usr/src/binutils/binutils-2.27/build/ld/ld-new 2.27 I note this is the same issue as reported here http://archive.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/lfs-support/2016-February/049602.html although the 7.10 book doesn't mention it as a "potential/known" fail I also can't see what the "fix" was from the quoted thread but it looks like it is a "can be ignored" ? For reference: Host machine is a CentOS 6.8 Xen DomU, running off of a CentOS 6.8 Xen Dom0 (which, incidently, is still at GCC 4.4.7, so some way shy of the GCC 4.7 requirement that LFS 7.10 suggests - may look to move to the devtoolset-3-gcc which is 4.9.2) Notes: 1) Clealry I didn't run any binutils tests in the Stage 1 build 2) I'm not compiling it as root (this is a MCPM build) -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
