If we include the last paragraph above on the kernel page (8.3), do we

the first note on the grub page (8.4)?

So, with regard to that note, vis:

===============================================
Most newer systems now come with system firmware that is in UEFI
(Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) mode by default. To boot LFS
on these systems using the instructions here, the UEFI Mode and Secure
Boot capabilities need to be turned off. There are ways to boot with
these capabilities still enabled, but then are not covered here. For
details, see the lfs-uefi.txt hint at
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/lfs-uefi.txt.
===============================================

perhaps the first sentence should be in the kernel section note, as that's
the first point at which the UEFI acronym is introduced, so you should be
"defining it" at that first point.

Certainly, the third sentence could go, as those "ways" are now covered in
the Book.

The note in the

8.4. Using GRUB to Set Up the Boot Process

might then read,

============================================
Note

To boot LFS on host systems that have UEFI enabled, the kernel needs to
have
been built with the capabality described in Secrtion 8.3, however, an
LFS system
can be booted using the LFS system's Grub without such an addition, if
UEFI Mode
and Secure Boot capabilities, in the host system's BIOS, need to be
turned off.

For details of how to make the LFS system capable of managing a UEFI
environment,
see the lfs-uefi.txt hint at
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/lfs-uefi.txt.
============================================

I added the extra phrase, "in the host system's BIOS", as the original
Grub section
note, as the original didn't explain that "UEFI Mode and Secure Boot"
are in the
BIOS. (Maybe most folk would now that but, why not make it explicit?).

OK, I can work with that. Probably tomorrow.

KFS has been updated ar revision 11165. It will be rendered on the web site over night.
