Thanks for looking at that. You're right about the fact that the two problems
are unrelated. On a system where sddm works (an older one), I have the same
error with xterm. And also, I tried xmessage, which again gives:
---
$ xmessage test
Warning: Unable to load any ISO8859 font
Segmentation fault
---
Does it work for any of you?
Yes, that gives a small window with the argument. Works for me.
I install xorg in opt but I have:
[ /usr/share/fonts ]$ ll
total 20
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Aug 20 15:53 X11-OTF ->
/opt/xorg/share/fonts/X11/OTF
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Aug 20 15:53 X11-TTF ->
/opt/xorg/share/fonts/X11/TTF
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 20 23:25 dejavu
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 12288 Aug 18 12:01 terminus
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Aug 25 13:08 truetype
I did install legacy fonts.
