I've uploaded test tesults from my first 8.3 build to http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~ken/testlogs-8.4/
Summarised in 00-README, but a few things to particularly note here: · Built from an ancient LFS-7.8 system which I had only kept around to use for seeing if we could build from it. Looking at the hostreqs.log which I have included, anything much older will not pass. · I used the forked version of bc which we expect to be using after the 8.4 release. This build is not going anywhere, but I made sure it can at least compile a kernel. · For autoconf we blame bash-5.0 and libtool-2.4.3 [ sic ] for the test breakage: we are now on a later version of libtool, perhaps we could reword that ? · I only got one failure in gzip (help-version) · One failure in tar · gawk had no failures, but reported %%%%%%%%%% Inadequate locale support: skipping charset tests. %%%%%%%%%% At least en_US.UTF-8, fr_FR.UTF-8, ru_RU.UTF-8 and ja_JP.UTF-8 are needed. If I've followed the book correctly, ja_JP.UTF-8 is not mentioned. Usually, I install all locales, but after the recent additions I decided to only use the minimum. I suppose that begs the question whether all the locales we've added in the past are still needed, but I can't see a good way to test that. ĸen -- The beauty of reading a page of de Selby is that it leads one inescapably to the conclusion that one is not, of all nincompoops, the greates. -- du Garbandier -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
