For c2ph I agree it seems to have gone. I'm out of cycles to address that (or to look at the unrelated man-db suggestion) at the moment, hope Bruce will be reading ;-) If not, maybe tomorrow. But on the 8.3 system where I'm reading this, /usr/bin/perl5.28.0 is indeed a hard link to /usr/bin/perl as the book says. Use 'ls -li' to confirm they have the same inode numbers. And if they don't I'm afraid your package management is probably at fault.
