You were looking for the wrong entity Ken. The subject of the email says &db-fixes-patch not &db-version and it's only referenced in the "not used anymore but still in the SVN repo" db.xml file, which is why, if you do try to use it, the rendering breaks. In terms of more archaeology, I noticed that in BLFS, the BDB section did go up to version 6 for a couple of releases, but then dropped back to version 5, which is were it still at in BLFS 9.0, and the note to the change references the same issue that Bruce refered to, vis: http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/10989 Don't spend too much time looking into this though. I only noticed it because I had the SVN sources, and typically put that BDB section in because I got used to building the arpd in IPRoute all those years ago.
