May I remind you guys there _is_no_modem_driver_ for that beast under
usb for linux. It works under lan. What is wrong with that? Even if I
set up hotplug, the 2,6.10 usb drivers will not entertain that modem.
No driver iappears in web searches.

Leaving usb and hotplug is a luxury I can afford right now.  This is
an issue of available time.
