Andrew, I believe the correct response in this situtation is "woo-hoo, you da man!"
Blimey, Steady on!
To summarize: MAKE INSTALL is a bad idea with the Firefox build, as is using all command-line options. Instead you should put those options in a custom .mozconfig in a separate build directory, run ../mozilla/configure && make, and follow the above-linked directions to run the browser-only install. I followed Andrew's advice (which should be a hint document!) and added only a symbolic link from /usr/lib/firefox/firefox to /usr/bin. Firefox 1.04 now launches in a new window as part of an existing instance rather than pop up the profile manager dialogue. Thanks again, Andrew.
Cool. Glad it helped. I don't like to criticise the book because I've learned so much from it, but Firebird was one of the few things I learned to compile myself before I did LFS so I've always done it differently -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
