I didn't apply glibc-2.3.4-fix_test-1.patch and I didn't run the tests. Running the tests when they were gonna report errors anyway would have definitely confused me further, and the book recommends not running the tests at this point: "If the test suites are not being run in this chapter (as per the recommendation)". Also, I didn't create the locales, for obvious reasons. I guess I'm going to run the tests this time, and compare my results with the book: "For a discussion of test failures that are of particular importance, please see Section 6.11, “Glibc-2.3.4.”)".
