What you say makes sense, but to be honest you have gone beyond my understanding of the boot process. All I know is that if I do not specify as active the partition that I want to boot, BIOS reports that it cannot find a boot device. This is true regardless of whether the drive in question is fully Linux, fully Winduhs, or dual-boot. -- Peter B.
