Do you have (by chance) skiped support for vesafb in your kernel
CONFIG_FB_VESA=y
or whatever you intended to use
hm I suppose no, because you get a (bla(n)k) screen
or the framebfferconsole
FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
yes, that should make it ... you lack support for fbconsole ...
only a gues

BTW what should 0x3cc=792 do
