In the /usr/lib directory there are many links that look like this:
somefile -> ../../lib/somefile

Why is the above notation used instead of:
somefile -> /lib/somefile 

I suppose that if your "root" filesystem wasn't really a "root" then 
that would make sense.  But why would someone create a directory tree 
like that?
