Continuing to post on LFS-Support *is* ignoring etiquette. I'm moving

I increased volume and turned on everything but still no sound. I
thought perhaps a reboot was necessary but that also produced no sound.
I brought up alsamixer again and was surprised to find that everything
was set to zero volume and muted again.
There were changes made to the dev.d handler that restores the settings.
I believe it did not work for me either, last time I booted using the
new dev.d handler.
Keep in mind, that all you have to do is a 'alsactl restore' to put the
settings back (provided they were saved).
Any suggestions? I see the sound card recognized upon booting. I've
obviously made progress with everyone's help.
What does speaker-test when run as root do?
Please show the output from 'cat /proc/asound/devices' and
'cat /proc/asound/cards'.
speaker-test produces a loud beep and shows the following:
