Thanks for everyone's help on this.  I'm a programmer ( :( MS ) by trade so
building software comes easy.  I've been running a GNU/Linux server for
about 4 years now, but I went LFS so I could learn more about how GNU/Linux
works.  But the biggest hurtle at this time is trying to knowing what goes
where and reading the ton of material out there.  I really thought that when
I turned on the PCMCIA in the kernel all I needed to do was include the NIC
driver.  Didn't even know about the cardmgr or pcmcia-cs.  But once I went
back over a few thinks there it was right in the kernel help.
