I have LFS 5.1 (Gawk 3.1.3), and built a LFS 6.1 (Gawk 3.1.4). Post LFS, I discovered libgpg-error would not compile on LFS 6.1. This was a brand-new, shiny, virgin 6.1 build straight from the livecd. I tried various combinations of libgpg-error on both LFS 5.1 and LFS 6.1.
I tracked the build failure to gawk in the libgpg-error build scripts. I went to the gawk ftp site, found a version 3.1.5, uninstalled gawk 3.1.4 from LFS 6.1, and built and installed gawk 3.1.5. When I tested the build of libgpg-error (version 1.1), lo and behold it built. The table below shows the combinations I tested. So, beware of gawk 3.1.4.
