The issue is that you're using kernel 2.6.12.x on your host system. This was covered on the lfs-dev mailing list. Take a look at http://archives.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/lfs-dev/2005-August/052546.html for some solutions. Otherwise, you can start over with a 2.6.11.x kernel.
