text they are replying to. Anyway, let me rephrase the question - you
are starting from a Slackware system, which I imagine is 32-bit ? If
that is the case, did you cross-compile the kernel ? (hint, does 'uname
-m' show x86_64 ?)
The cross-lfs book covers a multitude of different situations, x86_64
is slightly unusual in that you can do a chroot, but if the build system
is 32-bit you have to build a new kernel and reboot to that first.
Until you have a 64-bit kernel, you can't run 64-bit binaries.
