I'm sorry to have to tell you this isn't fixed yet (or if it is, I
haven't caught). If you use irc, you could ask about current progress
on #cross-lfs.
This is a gcc4 problem. The builds with gcc-3.4 worked (but the
specfiles are manipulated by different instructions from what is now in
the book). Jim was looking at building the cross and target glibc with
linuxthreads to work around this, and other alternatives were being
investigated.
FWIW, this part of x86_64-64 works, but the installation instructions
for glibc need some attention (I will do that after I've got the test
instructions for glibc upgraded to gcc4).
Best advice at the moment is either to take part in the testing on
#cross-lfs, or to take a breather.
