Has anyone installed Evolution 2.4.1, and does it work OK for you? This
weekend I yanked out my Gnome install tree (yet again) and rebuilt it
with the latest 2.12.1 sources, followed by another fresh install of
Evolution. Just like my efforts a few weeks ago, it works fine except
for the address book. Even though my contacts are still in the same
location, they do not show up; only the address book names show up, all
empty. Most of the context menus have the "Add new contact" option
greyed out, but the File / New / Contact menu is accessible. If I click
on that, however, nothing happens.

In case it was a problem converting over from prior versions, I
restarted Evolution as root (which does not currently have a personal
folder for ~.evolution or the various .gconf, .gnome etc. settings) but
I get the same problem starting with a clean home directory.

I'm asking here first because I think it's a build problem rather than a
code problem - I searched Bugzilla and the Evolution mailing list and
only one other person reported similar symptoms, back in version 2.2.2,
so I doubt other users are seeing the same failure.

kernel is 2.6.12.2, gcc is 3.4.4, Gnome is 2.12.1.
