In chapter 6.8 of the LFS book, it talks about creating some of the devices
need by the kernel for booting:

mknod -m 600 /dev/console c 5 1
mknod -m 666 /dev/null c 1 3

The man and info pages for the mknod command are pretty straight forward but
they don't explain much about major and minor numbers.

Can anyone direct me to a reference that explains this subject ?
