Hai all , To build a LFS System is it necessary the host system should have 2.6 kernel or higher and GCC3.0 or higher ..... Can LFS be built taking any distro as host system.... Bcz we have to
build our distro based on Debian ... But installing debian with all the
packages is tedious .... Is thr any way to install the whole debian binary dump at a time from the
local repository location .. instead of specifying each package name with
apt_get command ...... Can any one reply to this ...

Chandu,

1.) The start of the book TELLS YOU that you NEED a host system with a 2.6 kernel build with gcc 3.X - try reading the book before asking questions like this

2.) You can use any host as long as it meets the requirments mentioned above, some hosts will have "tricks" due to the way they are built. The LFS liveCD is an excellent host if you are looking for a stable build host that you don't have to install.

Try asking debian related questions through the debian support channels.
