Re-did "Shadow-4.0.9" omitting "secure MD5 method of password encryption" and "grpconv" also did not solve the problem On chrooted partition running root:/# id uid=0(root) gid=0 groups=0 it discovered that "gid" and "groups" did not have names, only a number. Further running; # ls -l $LFS/lib/libnss* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 81660 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_compat-2.3.4 .so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_compat.so.2 -> libnss_compat-2.3.4.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 45444 2005-12-28 00:00 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_dns-2.3.4.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_dns.so.2 -> libnss_dns-2.3.4.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 125906 2005-12-28 00:00 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_files-2.3.4. so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2005-12-28 00:01 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_files.so.2 - > libnss_files-2.3.4.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 61063 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_hesiod-2.3.4 .so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_hesiod.so.2 -> libnss_hesiod-2.3.4.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 136117 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_nis-2.3.4.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 176174 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_nisplus-2.3. 4.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_nisplus.so.2 -> libnss_nisplus-2.3.4.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-12-28 00:01 /mnt/lfs/lib/libnss_nis.so.2 -> libnss_nis-2.3.4.so libness* were there. I suspect the problem coming from "glibc". I may be wrong. I'm prepared to re-install "Glibc-2.3.4" 5.6. Glibc-2.3.4 http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/stable/chapter05/glibc.html However I can't resolve whether I can re-do it on chroot OR have to starting from the beginning and login with "su - fs". To redo it on chroot will be less complicate rather than starting from the beginning only for one package. Any advise? OR can any folk on the List shed me some light. TIA B.R.
