That's bad news - the k6-2 is an i586, it sounds suspiciously as if
the Live CD has init (at least) built for i686. I find that hard to
believe, but accidents do happen - maybe ask on the Live CD list
unless anybody from there is watching this thread.

A check to the LFS Live CD archives reveals that you are indeed correct.
There has been a problem identified with the same hangup at "Start
init.." for i586 machines down.
i686 machines seem to boot OK.
It is being worked on as we speak although I can't tell if it's close to
being resolved.
How exciting! Maybe I could help in testing!
