Hello Krishnaswamy,
the USB device should be treated as a SCSI disk in terms of copying the
filesystem onto it, how to use it as a "device" is a different matter
First thing to see is if your hardware supports boot from USB.
Once you have seen this and your hardware does support USB it should be
simple enough process of installing a boot loader on the boot sector of
your USB stick, assuming that LFS fits onto your stick
(df is the command used to show the size of the mounted file systems)
If your LFS build won't fit onto your USB memory stick then you'll need
to look at the documentation for the LFS liveCD and how
techniques/filesystems like squashFS are used to compress a LFS build
into a 700 meg CD.
