this is a long over due reply but the problem was solved in the end it was
user error=/
i first had a syntax error in the /etc/group file which resulted in my user
not being properly added to the audio group
this once corrected removed a great deal of the errors initially encountered
i also was over looking the output settings within alsamixer center was not
set to mixer output rather i had disabled it setting it to mixer output
produced sound and all was well
