Yes, that's a typo.  I copy and pasted the command from the book but that's on 
a different machine.  No surprise that might other machine doesn't have email 
working yet, right?

By the way, I'm at the beginning of Chapter 6 when I get the error.

I hope that --prefix-/usr is just a typo here in email.

Also, you can look at configure script where it reports this error and see 
which actual test it does. Maybe then you'll see what could be wrong.
