'Policy' is something the BLFS editors have kept out of the book. Like all binaries, you don't know what it is going to do, so it might be a risk, but it's your distro. At least it isn't going to poke about in the kernel internals like proprietary graphics drivers. Works on x86 only (I use it with firefox). I _loathe_ flash sites, but it's occasionally useful to me so I usually have it installed on at least one of my systems. ISTR that one or other of the free (open) alternatives is starting to make progress, but I can't remember the name of the project or how much it can do. Maybe it was swfdec.
