Um, you access them the same way in all linux distros - mount the usb device (the filesystem will be vfat, you showed us you seem to have the necessary usb options) and then you can read the files from it, or perhaps write to it if it lets you (I know nothing about Walkmen, but one of my cameras won't let me delete files except from the camera's own controls). The device will be your next available 'scsi' disk, so perhaps /dev/sdb if you already have a SATA disk, and the partition number should show up in the log messages. Possibly, Suse has a more "sophisticated" desktop with the wonders of dbus and hal, and does some of this for you. I'm sure that's great when if it works.
