That paragraph has already been corrected in the development book...
"To have full control over the way Perl is set up, you can run the
interactive Configure script and hand-pick the way this package is
built. If you prefer, you can use the defaults that Perl auto-detects,
by preparing Perl for compilation with:"
Wish I'd read this first. Chris, I think the best solution is just to
run configure.gnu with the LFS settings. Then the note that says "If
you want to hand-pick the settings, run Configure now". Then we have
the right defaults for LFS, but people can still use the interactive
script and don't need to hand change all the Perl defaults.
