Yes, this can be dangerous. Be sure to backup everything you can't
readily get on the net).
Here's output from running fdisk on a device (output created with
the help of script(1)):
The <== indicates points where I've entered a command (p=
print partition table, t=change partition type).
Note: in this session I am not actually updating the partition
table: aside from the fact that I entered '83', which is what
the partition /already/ was, I am not doing the final 'write'
(with 'w'), to write the partition table and all of the changes
made. I would have done that just before the 'q'.
(note: to get just a list of the current partition table,
you can do
$> fdisk -l /dev/hdX
from the command-line).
