Thanks, I'll check it out.  

First, though, if I can, I'd like to complete this
process without a cross-compiler; I'm pretty close (I
think) and I do native 603 build machines, even if
they're slow.  I do have a couple of 6x86-PPC cross
compilers up and running on another machine, one
CROSSTOOL and the other one "hand-built", but getting
all the pieces in the right places is always
interesting even without keeping track of who's
generating which kind of binaries.  A plethora of
bugs, patches and workarounds has crept into the GNU
toolchain over the past decade, and I decided a while
back in the process that I would simplify for a little
while by using a 603-native machine, at least at
first.  Slowwwwwwww.  :)
