Yesterday I built most of a new desktop on current LFS. Looking at
my buildscripts, very little seems to have changed since the last
build, apart from a newer freetype (2.3.4) (fontconfig is 2.4.2) and
lots of extra TTF fonts. X is 7.2 with xcb, gtk+ is 2.10.11 (I'm
fairly sure those haven't changed).

There were a few minor version upgrades to gnome packages (2.18.1
from 2.18), but I'm fairly sure they aren't relevant to the problem
because the affected packages are the gimp (which I build before
gnome) and abiword. The only other packages with 'save as' which I
have tested are firefox and gnumeric, they both work normally.

If I try to 'save as' from the gimp or abiword, the dialog keeps
repainting, alternately at its original size and a bit wider. This
gives the appearance of a flashing dialog. I can close it, but I
can also drag it out wider with the mouse, at which point it settles
down. I cannot then shrink it back to the original size - it looks
as if the wider of the two alternating versions is the correct
minimum size.

Trying to google for this is getting nothing, I'm not even sure
what keywords I should look for. Has anybody seen anything like
this ?
