I used the original LFS, the cross-lfs.org as well as diy-linux.org as input to my scripts which i used on an IBM RS6000. It's not too much different from the original LFS (but it is) when allready have a Linux running on that machine - and i understood you as you have Debian allready there. I started with a OpenSuSE 10 on the RS6000. Just take a look on that sites...
