I finally got the system to boot, but couldn't do anything with it. I thought
the system was locked up, but I now believe it was just the keyboard was being
recognized. I then went back and booted from the LiveLFS cd. I was able to
mount the system I built and look at the sys.log file. I didn't see any
apparent errors. I do notice when the build of Version 6.6-rc1 boots up I do
see what appears to be problems with the usb, and I found this in sys.log:

It looks to me like none of the usb ports are working, but they work under the
LiveCD, version 6.3.
