No, but setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH actually does make 'make' complete without errors. (Just tried it.) In reference to the article I mentioned, setting any of those variables manually kind of defeats the purpose of a build system (.pc files an all that automake magic) Again, I used a workaround (meaning the package is now installed properly) for a problem I think should be blamed on the package gir-repository, rather than on BLFS. My intention here is to help anyone encountering the same problem building a BLFS system. In my experience, bug reports to the developers about these sort of things just get ignored.
