I can relate to that. Trying to install DHCP-3.0.6 Client, I 
installed the service script for dhcpcd. Needless to say ,it
didn't work well.

I tried dhcpcd and couldn't get it working correctly for me. 
I don't remember the problem exactly; however DHCP-3.0.6 
both client and server perform admirably and have many 
confguration options if they are needed.
