Hi, I'm a newby and tried to build gcc about over a half a year, but for some reasons it fails everytime.
Would you please be so kind to give me any recipe or could you please provide me a small how to? Do I need GCC 3.x to build 4.x? Is it possible to use another GCC except the one that ships with my distributions (debian, ubuntu, mandriva)? Could you provide me any scripts. There are MPFR and GMP right? What shall I do with it, I guess I should move it to the build or source folder. I've read that there is a third component that's required by GCC. BTW is it possible to build GCC for a different platform e.g. a crosscompiler for x86 to x64 or x64 to arm?
