I am working through LFS 6.8 and have got as far as section 5.12.1 -
Installation of Expect. Everything has gone fairly straightforwardly
thus far. I am using Gentoo 11.0 x86 LiveDVD as host and have
downloaded the exact versions of the necessary packages from the LFS
6.8 book. I have not deviated from the book.

Trying to build the Expect package with 'make', it seems to do the
right thing for a while, echoing lots of output and then stops with:

/mnt/lfs/sources/expect5.45/libexpect5.45.so: undefined reference to
`openpty@GLIBC_2.0'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [expect] Error 1

I would be extremely grateful for any help here - I've managed to
solve most other problems just by Googling long enough but there's not
much out there on this problem. Could it be that there's something
wrong with my glibc installation? I've managed to run the sanity
checks in the book so far fine.

Thanks so much,

Graham
