Yes Something certainly seems foul on my my part. >I see GRUB with: > >set root=(hd0,11) >linux /boot/vmlinuz-3.1 root=/dev/sda11 ro Correct >I'm a little confused here since you are building in a VM. I make all the recommended optional Partitions for good measure and ended up with a lot of them. >What does 'fdisk -l /dev/sda' give you? ftp://jegas.net/archives/os/linux/linuxfromsratch/lfs/fdisk-l%20dev-sda.png >Also 'cat /boot/grub/device.map' ftp://jegas.net/archives/os/linux/linuxfromsratch/lfs/grub-devicemap.png For Good Measure: fstab: ftp://jegas.net/archives/os/linux/linuxfromsratch/lfs/fstab.png >BTW, Shift-PgUp should ley you scroll back the boot messages. >You should see something like: > >[ 2.832244] sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 < sda5 sda6 sda7 sda8 sda9 >sda10 sda11 sda12 sda13 sda14 sda15 sda16 sda17 > >[ 2.833519] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk >... >[ 2.865075] EXT3-fs (sda8): mounted filesystem with writeback data mode >[ 2.865082] VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly on device 8:8. >--Bruce Getting retooled to try this part... working on it... OUCH unable to get this last bit for you, I goofed a bit trying to get you this information. However I'm going to get going starting over verbatum from the book, making sure to grab all the correct files as before I grabbed the list in the book, but I found a different list further down with somewhat higher version numbers for many of the files. So I'll try that... mauanlly making my own "wget" list of takes. I'm determined even if I've had some issues. Thank You for any tips and I again I appreciate all the time you've already given me and I would understand if you decide to give up. --Jason All Screens shots here: ftp://jegas.net/archives/os/linux/linuxfromsratch/lfs/ And Bruce - you've been Awesome and have been going above and beyond the call of duty. This is very much appreciated and is not being taken for granted. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
