Usually the install process of a package is:
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install
Normally the patches are not available with the original package. All
user download the source code configure/compile/install it. Where can
i get the patches of the original package?
Do the lfs devs write own patches for original package or do they get
the patches from somewhere?
For example here is one patch for gcc
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=47836
The book provides links, and the websites of the packages will provide
links to patches. If you want your hand held this much, you might as
well get Ubuntu and use it for your Linux needs. Or, if you want to have
an original system, go make a processor with a custom instruction set
and write your own programming languages, then make the programs you
need for a running system.
Either way, we are not here to hold your hand and baby you through the
process of building a system. We are here to give solutions to questions
when you've exhausted Google and every forum that has a chance of
answering the question.
