 Yes, but later in his reply Archie showed that binutils had been
installed in /mnt/lfs/tools/ which implies that he did the right
thing with the symlink.

 Also, he was at the beginning of chapter 5 (gcc pass 1 according to
what was in his log) so the normal problems of chroot / failure to
adjust the toolchain don't apply.
