I am working my way through LFS 7.4 but I hit a problem with Perl-5-18.1 in section 6.39
The instructions in 5.29 include the application of a patch which is not mentioned in 6.39. Installation of the patch apparently solved all the problems. Perhaps this deserves an entry in the errata.
