Your LFS boots but the kernel panics because it cannot mount your root
filesystem.
You are running LFS inside a VMware Workstation machine which provides a
specific virtual SCSI controller. In order to mount your disk you must
recompile your kernel with these options checked:
Device drivers -->
[*] Fusion MPT device support --->
[*] Fusion MPT ScsiHost drivers for SPI
Don't mark them as modules. They must be available from the beginning.
Try recompiling the kernel with these options set and booting again.
