If you issued "mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/lfs" but you have to enter "ls
/mnt/lfs/lfs" to see you LFS boot directory, that explains a lot.
I made the error in the chapter 7, because I halt the computer and then
I execute:
mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
instead:
mount /dev/sda3 $LFS
Better focus first in getting sure that your LFS build lives in
/mnt/lfs
instead of /mnt/lfs/lfs.
Perfect:
update-grub
Generating grub.cfg ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-686-pae
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-4-686-pae
Found Linux From Scratch (7.5) on /dev/sda3

At last, I boot LFS.
