So we've established that zlib is installed correctly.
Perfect.
Since you are so close to the end, go ahead and continue. However,
watch out for other problems.
You can also try to drop in the latest kmod from
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/chapter06/kmod.html
That is, try using kmod-18.
I just followed your advice and tried kmod-18 but I had the same error again.
But it's ok: As you said, I'm so close to the end that I want to continue
anyway.
What do you get for
$ ldd /bin/kmod
linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007fff273ff000)
liblzma.so.5 => /lib/liblzma.so.5 (0x00007f2c7d9c6000)
libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x00007f2c7d7ac000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007f2c7d58e000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00007f2c7d1e0000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f2c7dbe8000)
Does it find libz ok?
