Did you do 'mkswap [-c] [-L label] [-U ...] [...]' on the swap partition (/dev/sda2 ?), prior to the/any swapon/mount/&c ? Baho & Niels have of course in other posts addressed whether you want a swap partition or file, or swap at all, or use swap on ssd, &c. But in nay event, if you want to use some area of bytes for swap, then you'll normally need to do mkswap to 'format' it - it's kindof equivalent to mkfs &c. hth, akh > A mount command does not say anything about the swap partition and blkid > gives > /dev/sda2: UUID="..."
